Koritnica

English version – Koritnica

Another destination was the Koritnica, a tributary of the Soca with crystal clear water, which flows through a deep gorge, this river is one of the wildest and most picturesque rivers in Slovenia. The descent to the river alone was adventurous and due to the slightly higher water level, wading was also a challenge. Almost without exception, the fish are under washed-out banks and in the eddies of the current, but they can also be caught in the middle of the current, albeit rarely. Mainly marmorata trout are caught, but large grayling are also represented. This river is not a high catch destination and blind fishing usually doesn’t make sense. However, if they do not flee beforehand, identified fish willingly take the dry fly, or even the nymph. If you would like to fish in a barely fished and absolutely natural river and you are also satisfied with a few catches in one day, this is the right place for you.

Lepena

English version – Lepena

A highlight of my trip was fishing in the Lepena, which is also a tributary of the Soca. For me, the Lepena valley from the middle reaches to the upper waterfalls is one of the most beautiful in Slovenia. Despite the narrow course of the river, there are pools, eddies and deep holes where rainbow and marble trout can be caught, but grayling can also be seen here and there. The river is also a physical challenge for fly fishermen, as you regularly cross the river and you have to climb over stones and rocks. You can see and catch a lot of small and medium-sized fish, but also the 50s rainbow or even larger marmorata are caught regularly. For me, the Lepena is an absolute must for the list of should-fish destinations!
